Monica Bizzarri

Hello, my name is Monica Bizzarri.
I’d like to tell you a bit about my paintings :)

I’ve lived most of my life between Mexico and Italy, so I’ve always been used to leaving pieces of my life behind—places, people, moments—and carrying that sense of nostalgia with me. My earlier paintings come from that feeling: unclear, incomplete memories… things that were, that are, and maybe never fully exist again.

More recently, my work has shifted. I started painting imagined jungles—almost like inner landscapes—where I place objects that feel loaded with memory. They sit there, somewhere between real and symbolic, like fragments of something that’s no longer physically here but still deeply present.

For me, these paintings are about that space in between: what we lose, what stays with us, and the invisible bonds that don’t disappear, even when everything else changes.
